General Description
The CE81D342YQ is an easy-to-use, synchronous, step-down DC/DC converter designed for rugged automotive applications. It provides 3.5A output with current mode control for fast loop response and easy compensation. The wide 3.4V to 40V input range accommodates a variety of step-down applications, including those in an automotive input environment. 20µA operational quiescent current allows use in battery-powered applications.
High power conversion efficiency over a wide load range is achieved by scaling down the switching frequency at light load condition to reduce the switching and gate driving losses. The soft start function helps prevent inductor current run away during startup and thermal shutdown provides reliable, fault tolerant operation. In some applications, such as AM radio and ADSL applications, in which the device is sensitive to frequency band, the CE81D342YQ can avoid the related EMI problem by setting the frequency up to 2.2MHz.
